Once again, the festival is a riot of colors as monks and locals dress in bright, multi-colored clothes. They gather to dance and socialize, wearing masks representing different deities. The festival's highlight is when eager attendees finally see the 350-year-old thangka, an ancient and sacred Buddhist scroll. It's cherished for its historical stories, many of which praise the good deeds of Guru Rinpoche.
